Sign up for text messaging on the My Account page of Brooklyn Public Library's website. Click Modify Personal Info, and then select "Text Message" as the way you'd like to receive notices from the library.

Will I be charged for messages I receive?
Brooklyn Public Library provides this service free of charge, but your cell phone carrier may charge you based on your service plan. Check with your cell phone carrier if you're not sure.
How many messages will I receive?
You may receive up to 10 messages a week, depending on your activity with the library.
Messages may arrive on any day of the week, between 9 AM and 10 AM.
What types of messages will I receive?
First you'll receive a message asking you to opt in. Then you'll receive notices about holds
you've placed, as well as reminders when your items are due or have become past due.
If I sign up for text messaging, will I still get library notices by email, telephone
or postal mail?
No. You can select only one notice preference.
Note: Bills will continue to arrive via the U.S. Postal Service, regardless of your
notice preference.
How do I opt out of text messaging?
To opt out of text messaging, text STOP in reply to any library message. Or visit the
My Account page of our website, and change your notice preference to email, telephone
or postal mail.
Please note: Opting out via your phone will stop text messages from being sent;
however, you will not receive any notices from the library until you go to My Account
and choose a new preference (email, telephone or postal mail).
