For new Americans and others whose first language is not English, the library
provides ESOL: English for Speakers of Other Languages, free lessons in English,
taught by certified and experienced teachers.
The library also offers ESOL conversation groups led by specially trained volunteers.
ESOL classes and ESOL conversation groups are held at Central Library and at
several branches throughout the BPL system.
These twelve-hour computer basics workshops for adults are available at four BPL Adult Learning Centers: Central, Coney Island, Eastern Parkway, and Flatbush. Library users should call the learning center to reserve a seat. TELL Computer Basics Workshops will be offered at the learning centers through May 2009.
