Enshrined Memories: Brooklyn and the Civil War is an exhibit exploring the role of the borough in the American Civil War as well as the ways in which the war has been memorialized. A collaboration between Brooklyn Public Library and the Green-Wood Cemetery, this exhibit runs from September 15, 2007 to January 5, 2008 in the Central Library at Grand Army Plaza. On display are nearly 200 historic objects, including statues, uniforms, letters from the battlefield, diaries, statues, and battle flags.
In addition to this exhibition, Enshrined Memories will feature several events, including: a major Civil War conference over the entire Veterans Day weekend, a Friday night Civil War film series; and a guided trolley tour of Green-Wood Cemetery.
