Whether researching demographics to target your sales strategy or creating lists of potential customers, the following resources are just a few of the many BPL offers. Under "More Information" you will find a list of Reference Books located in the Business Library and the Central Library; these research tools are limited to use in the library.

Small Business Development Center National Information Clearinghouse
This site offers a wealth of data for small businesses of all kinds. Most useful to developing a market strategy are the sections on Marketing and Demographics.
The Marketing Resource Center
Contains sections on how to write press releases, create sales leads and design effective websites.
U.S. Bureau of the Census
This is THE source for demographics for the nation. Use American Factfinder, on the left hand panel, to locate extensive data on the age, ethnicity, education, income (and much more) of the population.
By entering key words to describe your subject, you can locate articles on marketing from over 800 magazines and newspapers, including The Wall Street Journal.
A good resources for tracking trends in consumer spending and keeping up with your competition; this database holds the text of over 2,000 business journals.
Use this database to locate companies of all sizes, whether they are potential competitors or potential customers. Excellent source for marketing lists.
