Introduction

Education and Job Information Center (EJIC), located at the Central Library has been providing the list of the institutions that offer GED Test Preparation Classes for the High School Equivalency Diploma throughout NYC in this referral list for the past several years and is updated on an ongoing basis approximately every two years. This service is offered by EJIC in conjunction with the distributions of GED Application Forms and Test Dates and Institution Names that provide the test spanning the current year (and into the next if available)in the five Boroughs of NYC (Brooklyn inclusive). These services for GED test takers are offered by EJIC on a daily basis for as long as the department remains open to the public. These GED materials are one of the higest distributions to the public throughout the year and is of continuous demand which is not seasonal.

Brooklyn College Continuing Education
Provides GED and Pre-GED evening and weekend classes in the spring and summer. Ages 18+. Fee.
HOPE Program
Full-time, 16-week job readiness training program during the day with GED component. Ages 18+. Free.
John Jay College of Criminal Justice
Continuing Education Program GED and Pre-GED evening classes. Ages 17+. Has a Fee.
Kingsborough Community College
Office of Continuing Education GED and Pre-GED evening and weekend classes. Ages 18+. Has a Fee. Click on “Continuing Education” on the home page.
LaGuardia Community College
Division of Adult & Continuing Education GED and Pre-GED day and evening classes in English and Spanish. Ages 19+. Has a Fee.
Literacy Assistance Center
Referrals to free classes citywide through telephone hotline or online “Adult Education Locator” database. Search for classes by borough, child care availability, disabled access and other criteria. Telephone assistance in English, French, French Creole and Spanish.
Long Island University
School of Continuing Studies Academic Readiness Program: 8-week noncredit GED prep class during the day. Ages 21+. College Entry Plan: combination GED/college credit program during the day and evenings, and on weekends. Includes a placement exam. Ages 21+. Has a Fee.
New York State Education Department - GED Testing
Provides general information about test scores. Application, testing locations and schedule available online.
SUNY Brooklyn Educational Opportunity Center
GED and Pre-GED day, evening and weekend classes. Ages 18+. Free.
