Sending an Email

All email services are different but most of them share some common characteristics.

Let's look at Yahoo Mail.

Type the URL mail.yahoo.com into the address bar. The first screen asks you to log in:

If you have an account enter your username and password. Remember that your username is just the first part of your whole email address, up to the @ symbol. For example, jdoe@yahoo.com is your email address, but your username is jdoe.

If you don't already have an account, click Sign Up Now and create one. Read each step carefully and enter all of the necessary information.

Once you have an email account, you can then check your messages, send a new message, or search your mail:

To send an email click on Compose.

Enter the email address of the person you're contacting and a subject for your message, then type the message in the text field:

When you've completed typing your message, click Send:

Congratulations! You have sent an email message.

When you're done, remember to always log out of your email account by looking for a button that reads "Log Out" or "Sign Out", especially if you are using a public computer!
