The Brooklyn Public Library's Pre-GED classes will offer the adult learner a
foundation of skills, including reading strategies, mathematics, writing and
background in social and natural sciences at a sixth through eighth grade level.
While not a test prep course, these classes will prepare the adult student for success
in achieving the GED diploma.
The Pre-GED classes are held 6 hours a week in nine local libraries throughout
the BPL system. In addition, students will be able to access computers for two
additional hours a week. Registered students may also be eligible to participate
in BPL's distance learning pilot program with Skills Tutor providing web-based
supplemental tutorials to the Pre-GED classroom lessons.
