Librarians from the three public library systems have collaborated with the DOE's School Library System office to choose high-interest books for kids and teens reflecting diverse backgrounds and interests. Your students will have a better chance of finding these books on the shelf because we have chosen books with many copies available.
In May and June, library staff will visit schools and child care centers to bring full-color copies of the booklists and other giveaways. We give entertaining booktalks, read stories, and tell students about our free summer activities and the Summer Reading website. Please contact your local neighborhood library or write us at classvisits@brooklynpubliclibrary.org to schedule a visit.
Whichever books you recommend to your students for summer reading, be sure that there are enough copies available in the public library. Check the Brooklyn Public Library catalog first at http://catalog.brooklynpubliclibrary.org/.
