Put Your Computer Skills to Good Use

By volunteering at your local library or the Central Library as a Computer Coach, you'll help library users improve their technical knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to specific software questions from library users regarding Microsoft
  • Internet Explorer, and age- and subject-specific software
  • Help staff maintain a schedule of the workstations
  • Show library users how to get online, and help them understand how to find information on the Web

Required Skills

  • Computer skills (particularly word processing and Internet searching)
  • A friendly and approachable manner
  • Ability to work with all age groups and ability levels
  • Knowledge of a second language is helpful, but not necessary

Note: Training is provided regarding Library policies and procedures, but computer skills training is not provided.
