Obesity
fast food chains make you fat
food flies out of your mouth when you chat
stop the fatness of foods
'cause it's not only things that give you moods
they taste good
and make you feel good
but it's bad for you
stop the obesity now
and protect the cows
stop stop stop stop
before it gives your heart a chop
stop stop stop stop
before it makes you flop

- Henry, 15

Soccer Goal
Scoring the goal
Open shot
Closing on the goal
Cheer to win
Energy to kick the ball
Running for the shot

Going for the challenge
Opportunity to score
Attack to steal
Losing, but still having fun

- Christina, 14

Hershey Park
Hershey Park is so fun
I eat my chicken in a bun
I watch the rollercoaster spin
While people's faces are pressed in.

- Sierra, 12

Haiku
The wind whispers
The trees move in silly response
The leaves hustle in joy

Above
the one I love was sent from above
love love love is like a
dove from the heavens up above. I am in
the sky up above the
world so high. I love the sky up
above it's so beautiful
when you are the one looking at it.

- Trevor, 15

I will love you...
When I'm mad I'll love you. When I'm happy I'll love you. When I'm in the rain I'll be happy because nobody will notice that I'm crying over you. Deep down I will love you, but tell you and show you that I don't care about you. Sometimes I will tell you I don't want to talk But I'll be longing for your safe touch. I will love you no matter what. I will love you.

- Shelly

Untitled
life can't just turn around
you have to stop it before you drown
waiting for it to change is not right
it's like waiting for the moon to create its own light
sitting around doing nothing isn't helping anything
go out and fight until you get your dream

- Dawn, age 16

Martin Luther King
Martin Luther King was a gifted student. He skipped two grades.
He also graduated from college at the age of nineteen.
Martin Luther King wanted equality of black and whites.
Martin wanted justice and peace.

- Yanique

MLK
Martin Luther King Jr. was a great black leader.
He was one of the black people in a handful that
Could have become president.
The day before he died, he delivered his last
speech: "I've been to the mountaintop."
This was on April 3, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee.
Although Dr. King was a great leader
There were others who did just as much as he did.
For example, Frederick Douglass, Marcus Garvey
And Medgar Evars. Even though they
Worked as hard in the struggle as Dr. King,
It is sad that people don't mention
Them as much as Dr. King.

- Yusuf

January 2007
Martin Luther King Jr.'s mother was blessed on January 15, 1929 and named him
Michael Luther King Jr. which later on was changed to Martin Luther King Jr.
He was a very intelligent and thoughtful man.
He graduated from high school at the age of fifteen.
Then later on he went to Morehouse College and earned a PhD in Theology.
He graduated from college at the age of nineteen.
Martin was a brave man with a good heart,
Cause he didn't think about himself
But he also thought of others.
Martin Luther King Jr.
Dreamed that all black and white people will get along
And be free at last.
