1619-2019: 400 Years Later - African Dance & Folktales Workshop
In August 1619, between 20 and 30 enslaved Africans were brought to Jamestown, Virginia and then sold to the colonists. 2019 marks the 400th anniversary of this event.
To celebrate the millions of enslaved Africans who survived the harsh transatlantic journey, and whose labor, creativity and endurance have contributed greatly to the prosperity of this great nation, the Mill Basin branch of the Brooklyn Public Library will be hosting a series of special programs.
Come in to learn from and enjoy interactive African dance and storytelling. Performances will be accompanied by live percussion music, with costumes and full choreography!
