Artists on Site Residency: Dance Workshops with the Syzokryli Ukrainian Dance Ensemble

In this two-part dance workshop, learn the basic steps and movements associated with the art of Ukrainian dance, from members of the Syzokryli Dance Ensemble. Participants will learn individual steps and associated patterns of movement such as circular, traveling and in line dance techniques. Couples dancing and group lifts will also be taught.

Two different regional styles of dance will be presented: The most common style from the central Ukrainian region of Poltava and a style based in the Carpathian Mountains and Hutsulschyna region.

Don’t miss the finale when members of the Syzokryli Dance Ensemble perform a dance from their repertoire.
