Artists on Site Residency: Poetry, Music & Language with Crimean Tatars
Who are the Crimean Tatars of Crimea Ukraine residing in Brooklyn?
Representative of the Crimean Tatar Mejlis in the U.S., Ayla Bakkali, curates an afternoon of conversation, traditional music and poetry.
The music lineup includes:
- The New York Crimean Tatar Ensemble, headed by Nariman Asan who will share the traditional music of Crimean Tatars;
- The Efsane Crimean Tatar Ensemble with Yunus Faizov, Uriane Khayredinov, among others, based at the Crimean Tatar Cultural Center in Brooklyn that promotes the cultural heritage and history of Crimean Tatars of the Crimean Peninsula;
- Renowned Crimean Tatar singer Uriye Kermenchikli, known for her songs Karanfil, Kamishim, and Anterisi Ala Benzeyur.
