BECOME A CYCLE ALLY!

Learn to use your voice and creativity to fight period shaming and period poverty.
The Cycle Alliance is a pro-period advocacy campaign for teens of all genders!
Ages: 12-21 years old
Where: Central Branch, Youth Wing, Upper Program Room
Time: Wednesdays, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Today's Theme: Community Service

Scheduled Guest: Andrea Gonzales, author (Girl Code: Gaming, Going Viral, and Getting it Done) and game creator (Tampon Run)

During the six-week series of workshops, teens will view Ted Talks and short films, design #EndPeriodShaming fliers and buttons; participate in round table discussions; write local politicians; and talk with other period advocates.

As an Ally, Teens Will:

  • Earn volunteer hours and a roundtrip MetroCard
  • Help people your neighborhood and throughout Brooklyn
  • Gain accurate information to fight the myths surrounding menstruation
  • Meet new people and make new friends
  • Find out who your local politicians are and how to contact them

Potential members must fill out a Volunteer Application to participate. Please indicate on the application that you want to be a member of the Cycle Alliance and that your hours of availability are Wednesdays, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Snacks will be available at every meeting on a first come, first serve basis.
