Worried that the WWW has you in its Web? Overwhelmed by mass surveillance, digital harassment, or security leaks of personal data? You are not alone! Cryptoparties are a space for people of all technical abilities to share skills and learn from each other about online privacy protection.
This month our cryptoparty will focus on digital harassment and its cousin, doxxing. We’ll cover some recent examples in the news and the ways that defenses against digital harassment differ from those used against mass surveillance. Since this is particularly personal topic with less universal answers, we’ll be discussing both the harm that digital harassment causes and what we can do to reduce that harm by changing social media profiles or how we browse the Web.
The CyPurr Collective is a group of tech-minded folks who are very jazzed about cybersecurity, cats, and helping folks out with their digital dilemmas. We offer workshops for activists, journalists, educators, and anyone else who wants a safer way to Internet.
