BPL Presents film philosophy in the library

In her new movie, What is Democracy?, filmmaker Astra Taylor explores the title question through a series of discussions with philosophers, political theorists, activists, workers, middle schoolers, and others. If democracy is rule by the people, who are the people? How, and over what, do they rule? How might reflecting on these questions help us confront the challenges facing democracy today?

Taylor joins Philosophy in the Library for a screening of the film and a conversation with the political philosopher Nancy Fraser and Taylor afterward.
