Silent Movie Matinee Silent Movie Matinee BPL Presents Silent Movie Matinee Silent Movie Matinee

SHERLOCK JR. (1924) 45 Minutes
We celebrate Buster Keaton's recent birthday, on October 4th, with a classic feature where Buster plays a movie-theatre projectionist (and an amateur detective) who is framed for theft and loses the woman he loves.  When he projects a film that reflects his own situation, he finds a way to enter the screen, to become a part of the film-within-the-film, to try to solve both its mystery and his own dilemma, in a slapstick comedy that is also a meditation on the nature of cinema and dreams.  Directed by Buster Keaton.

Plus 2 short comedies:

CONEY ISLAND (1917) 25 Minutes
Shot on location in and around Luna Park in Brooklyn.
Directed by, and starring, Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle and co-starring Buster.

THE PLAY HOUSE (1921) 23 Minutes
Directed by Buster and Eddie Cline, and starring Buster.

With Live Piano Accompaniment by Bernie Anderson.  Hosted & Curated by Ken Gordon.

Children under the age of six will not be admitted to this program.

Silent Movie Matinees are sponsored by Los Blancos and a generous anonymous donor.
