The Shelby White and Leon Levy Information Commons is a natural extension of what BPL has always offered—opportunities for freelancers, students, job seekers and lifelong learners to access innovative library services. With a focus on technology, media and culture, our resources and learning opportunities reflect the needs and the diverse spirit of our community.
- Space: Located right off Central’s Grand Lobby, the Info Commons has an open workspace area with seating and electrical outlets for over 70 users. Six meeting rooms, equipped with flat screen monitors to facilitate instruction and collaboration, can be reserved by the public. There is an amateur recording studio, equipped with an iMac editing workstation, DSLR camera, microphone and more equipment. View photos. Learn more about the Info Commons meeting rooms.
- Programs: We offer a range of workshops, events and other programming, from digital media classes to discussions and presentations to language conversation groups. If you have an idea for a program, please submit a proposal.
- Technology: Plug in your laptop or use an Info Commons iMac or PC to get your work done. You can also reserve time to use our digital conversion equipment to convert your analog media—VHS videocassettes, audio cassettes and vinyl records—to digital files. Learn more about our tech resources.
