author talks BPL Presents green series

Brooklyn’s roads were not made for cars, argues Dr. Kevin Dann in his new book Silver-Wheeled City: New York By Bicycle & Camera, but for horses first, and bicycles second. For the June Green Series, we invite you to join Kevin for a talk about the transformative moment in the 1890s when two recent inventions—the bicycle and the camera—extended the range of human wandering and looking, as they do now. After the talk, he will lead a ride to some key Brooklyn locations where the bicycle and camera burst into the popular consciousness.

Historian, naturalist, author of 12 books, including  Expect Great Things: The Life and Search of Henry David Thoreau, Dr. Kevin Dann has taught at Rutgers University, University of Vermont, and the State University of New York. He is a Senior Guide for Unlimited Biking.
